Deportation appeal of Brenda Namigadde will be heard tomorrow in London

Brenda Namigadde "fears for her life if she is returned to Uganda." She should. Hopefully, the court in Great Britain will allow her to appeal the deportation order. It's a matter of life and death, literally:

A lesbian woman's legal battle against deportation back to Uganda, where she fears she will be persecuted because of her sexuality, reaches the court of appeal tomorrow.

Brenda Namigadde had been due to fly back on 28 January when her lawyers were granted a temporary injunction shortly before her flight left Heathrow. The order was made by a court of appeal judge outside of normal court hours following earlier unsuccessful applications before two high court judges in London.

Namigadde says she fears for her life if she is returned to Uganda, where gay sex is a criminal offence punishable by up to 14 years in prison. The gay rights campaigner David Kato was last month beaten to death near the capital, Kampala. He had sued a local newspaper which outed him as homosexual.
The religious right from the United States, including associates of "The Family," helped create the hostile and dangerous environment that exists for gays and lesbians in Uganda. Let's hope Great Britain can muster some humanity for Brenda.
