The Post is doing its own whip count on Maryland's marriage legislation:
From all indications, the vote will be very close when a bill that would legalize same-sex marriage comes to the floor of the Maryland Senate in coming weeks.24 is the magic number in the Senate.
The bill needs 24 votes to pass in the chamber. A Washington Post survey in recent days found 20 senators who have publicly committed to supporting the bill and another six who say they remain undecided.
A hearing is scheduled next week in the Judicial Proceedings Committee, where a majority of members have indicated that they will vote to send the bill to the floor.
If you live in Maryland, make sure you're calling your Senators and Delegates -- the haters are calling. Equality Maryland has the tools to "Contact your legislator." Do it.
