The Washington Post is counting votes on marriage in the Maryland Senate

The Post is doing its own whip count on Maryland's marriage legislation:

From all indications, the vote will be very close when a bill that would legalize same-sex marriage comes to the floor of the Maryland Senate in coming weeks.

The bill needs 24 votes to pass in the chamber. A Washington Post survey in recent days found 20 senators who have publicly committed to supporting the bill and another six who say they remain undecided.

A hearing is scheduled next week in the Judicial Proceedings Committee
, where a majority of members have indicated that they will vote to send the bill to the floor.
24 is the magic number in the Senate.

If you live in Maryland, make sure you're calling your Senators and Delegates -- the haters are calling. Equality Maryland has the tools to "Contact your legislator." Do it.
