President Obama: Evolve Already. Seriously. Just evolve.

Andy Towle has the story (with video) about the President's latest mention of marriage:

At last night's Obama fundraiser in San Francisco, the President was briefly interrupted by an audience member who yelled out "gay marriage" while Obama was talking about unfinished business.

The President paused, and repeated in response to the interjection, "our work is not finished." The response got a large round of applause and cheering.

It is time for the President to come out for full marriage equality.
Andy is right.

Last October, Obama told me he was "evolving" on marriage. It's been almost six months. Still waiting. How long is this evolution going to take? This really should not be that complicated on a human level (you know, because, as Obama said, "I have a whole host of friends who are in gay partnerships. I have staff members who are in committed, monogamous relationships, who are raising children, who are wonderful parents.") And, as Nate Silver confirmed yesterday, marriage isn't a dangerous political issue anymore either. (And, we all think the basis of Obama's opposition was really politics, not religion. Religion was just an excuse.)

So, evolve already.
