While blogger was down, Wisconsin Senator Herb Kohl announced he was retiring at the end of this session.

In Wisconsin, speculation has already begun over who would run to succeed Kohl, including Tammy Baldwin:

Potential Senate candidates on the GOP side include House budget chair Paul Ryan, state Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen and Mark Neumann. On the Democratic side, candidates would include ex-senator Russ Feingold, and U.S. House members Ron Kind of La Crosse and Tammy Baldwin of Madison and Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett.
And, further confirmation that Baldwin may run for the open seat comes from the Rothenberg Political Report:
Sources close to Cong. Tammy Baldwin (D) say she is likely to run.
So, there's the possibility that we could have an openly gay U.S. Senator. Stay tuned.

UPDATE @ 2:52 PM: Via email, just found out that Democracy for America (DFA) is trying to get Russ Feingold to run:
Earlier today, Democratic Sen. Herb Kohl announced he was retiring after 24 years in Washington.

Thankfully, there's a progressive champion waiting in the wings to step up and keep this seat for the Democrats in 2012: Russ Feingold.
