US Senate confirms first openly gay male judge

From TowleRoad:

The Senate voted 80-13 late this afternoon to confirm attorney J. Paul Oetken, a former Clinton administration lawyer recommended to Obama by Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY), as a U.S. District judge for the Southern District of New York. Oetken is the first openly gay man to serve on the federal bench.
"Openly gay" being the operative words. Reagan and George H.W. Bush both appointed Vaughn Walker to the bench back in the late 80s. Still wonder if they knew he was gay.

UPDATE: The Roll Call is here.
