Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain said Sunday that he should not have stayed silent after the audience at a GOP debate booed a gay soldier serving in Iraq.
Separately, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., said that the GOP candidates at the debate should have defended the soldier. "The fact is we should honor every man and woman who is serving in the military and should in no way treat them with anything but the highest regard," he told CBS' "Face the Nation."The President has really been hitting the GOP on this story, over and over again. As has Speaker Pelosi, and VP Biden ( a few times). And they're right. It was an abominable thing to witness, especially when these men and women want to be the next commander in chief of our armed forces. You either stand with the troops or you don't. And that night the GOP candidates did not.
