Chuck Norris has "penned" a piece for the hate group American Family Association, claiming that President Obama has declared a "war on religion." His proof includes two rather odd points. The first is blatantly wrong, the second is just bizarre.
First off, As Holy Bullies notes, Norris claims that chaplains in the military will now be "forced" to performa same-sex marriages despite their religious objections. That's just a lie. And even weirder, the "proof" the AFA links to, a Washington Post article, confirms the lie:
Chaplains are not required to officiate at same-sex weddings if doing so is counter to their religious or personal beliefs, the guidance said.Even by religious right standards of "truth-telling," which is pretty low, it's rather odd to tell a lie and then link to the proof.
The second lie is somewhat more subtle, well, only in comparison. Norris claims that "Secretary Hillary Clinton demonizes other countries' religious beliefs as an obstacle to radical homosexual rights." Actually, Secretary Clinton was criticizing other countries incarcerating, torturing and executing gay and trans people. Chuck Norris, and through him the AFA, is actually defending the incarceration, torture and murder of gay people?
You're seriously defending the "religious" right to put gay and trans people to death, Chuck? Really?
