MN school district changes policy blamed for bullying

AP:

The new policy commits the north suburban Twin Cities district to providing “a safe and respectful learning environment for all students.” It says that when contentious political, religious, social matters or economic issues come up — it does not specifically cite sexuality issues — teachers shouldn’t try to persuade students to adopt particular viewpoint. It calls for teachers to foster respectful exchanges of views. It also says in such discussions, staff should affirm the dignity and self-worth of all students, regardless of race, religion, gender or sexual orientation.
Minnesota still has a ways to go. The bigots are pushing a ballot initiative to pass a state DOMA this November, and here's a surprise, the Mormons are once again lending a hateful hand.

It still cracks me up that the Mormons are so intent on sucking up to the religious right when there is simply no way that an evangelical Christian who thinks that Catholics aren't even Christian will ever accept Mormons as fellow Christians. The Mormons are being used for their money, period. Ironically, if they stopped being so proactively hateful, the Mormons would have a better chance of being accepted on the left than on the far right.
