Who didn't see this one coming?
The disgraced Republican sheriff who was outed after his undocumented Latino boyfriend exposed their relationship is ending his run for Arizona's Fourth Congressional District seat in order to focus on running for re-election as Sheriff.
Or so he claims.
I'm sure this decision had nothing to do with the fact that his fundraising all but dried up in the wake of the scandal that led to his outing, only pocketing a mere $6,700 in March donations (his opponent drew in $80,000, by comparison).
And I'm sure that this decision had even less to do with the unlikelihood of conservative voters electing an openly-gay, pro-gay-marriage, pro-undocumented-Mexican-boyfriend Republican to represent them in Congress.
But cheer up, Sheriff. Leaving Arizona and going to DC would have probably really cut down on your dating life.
