Cheney doesn't see why he should have brought up gay marriage during 2000 campaign

I'm not sure why ABC cares about the 2000 presidential campaign, I care about 2004, when Bush/Cheney was using gay marriage as a wedge issue.  And Cheney knew that they were basically trampling on the human rights of his own daughter, and said nothing.  Cheney, when asked if he shouldn't have spoken up earlier, responds: Why?

Um, cuz she's your daughter.  And in normal families, dads defend their kids.
