Why hip-hop star Frank Ocean coming out matters

Just wanted to say I think it is definitely important AmericaBlog Gay cover the story of rising hip-hop/R&B star Frank Ocean coming out of the closet this week (most people probably know him best as the co-writer and singer on the Jay-Z/Kanye West song 'No Church in the Wild'; his new album out in two weeks has gotten a lot of critical buzz online, with comparisons to early Stevie Wonder, and is expected to be a big seller).

Like professional sports, hip-hop is one of the few remaining fields of public life that doesn't have a "star" who has come out publicly. I'd venture to say this is a much bigger deal than, say, Anderson Cooper coming out, and it definitely deserves coverage on AmericaBlog Gay.
