Chick-fil-A cutting off anti-gay organizations? Maybe, maybe not.

| Reddit | Tumblr | Digg | FARK

A Chicago Alderman says the company wrote him and said they'll no longer give money to anti-gay organizations. Chick-fil-A is refusing to confirm the existence of the letter, while issuing a wishy-washy statement.

This may be a big deal. It also may be Chick-fil-A pulling another fast one. The only "proof" we have of this new policy is a web site I've never heard of, and which doesn't explain what it really is in its own 'about us' section. That's not exactly confirmation.

Why can't these companies ever just come out and say what they mean? If Chick-fil-A is really cutting off the religious right, they might as well admit it now, because the RR is going to be ticked. And no amount of hedging is going to change that fact. But the hedging will do one thing - it's convincing the rest of us that Chick-fil-A isn't serious about any of this. So they've ticked off both sides, and only made things worse.

Oh, and Chick-fil-A is still refusing to include gay and trans people in their company's non-discrimination policy. That's how "serious" they are about non-discrimination. Not very.
