Another attempt at context re: King & Spalding

Here is another attempt at context by The New York Times regarding King & Spalding and DOMA.

There is some good:

Ms. Gallagher sounded bitter and besieged as she described how the nature if not the substance of the debate had shifted. “Either you’re with them or you’re a hater,” she said of gay rights advocates. “They’re trying to exclude you from the public square.”
Uh, yeah, Maggie, that is pretty much what you are. I knew eventually Maggie would start whining about the consequences of her public fight to deny our community our equal rights. Let me just add, Mags, that when you choose to attach yourself so publicly to a hateful and bigoted cause, the short term gains you might have experienced just aren't worth the permanent damage to your reputation. What public square has been denied to you, Maggie?

There's also some ugly knuckle dragging by Justice Scalia:
The “law-professional culture,” Justice Scalia wrote, “has largely signed on to the so-called homosexual agenda, by which I mean the agenda promoted by some homosexual activists directed at eliminating the moral opprobrium that has traditionally attached to homosexual conduct.”
Let's all hope that we can evolve more rapidly as a society, and learn from our past mistakes. If so, it shouldn't take ANOTHER THIRTEEN YEARS to decide to observe equality and full civil rights for the LGBT segment of American society. Especially since we are lagging behind so much of the rest of the civilized world.
