As Chris Johnson notes in the article, the DNC caused significant damage in 2009 when it refused to help Maine fight a repeal of marriage equality in that state, but then asked Mainers to help with the NJ gubernatorial election. With an important election coming next year, the DNC needs to get out the vote, and one good way of doing that is by upping its public support of our community. And the President's position on marriage shouldn't be an issue - even he has said that these initiatives are wrong.
