This is a pretty major screw up by the Associated Press, and the error is still all over the Web. Kakoluri blog noticed that a recent AP story about how well the DADT repeal is going has a headline that says the complete opposite. The blog thought maybe Yahoo screwed up, but if you do a Google search, you'll see the same error all over the Internet. To the tune of 26,000 hits on Google. Meaning, AP messed up its own headline on the story, and now it's everywhere. It's on
Yahoo,
SF Chronicle, the
Guardian, and on and on.
MSNBC caught the error, as did the
Atlanta Journal-Constitution. I'm sure some other publications caught it too, but clearly not everyone. It's also possible that AP sent out a correction and only some publications actually corrected the stories. Either way, this is a rather major error and it needs to be corrected.
