UK gays to be permitted to hold civil partnership ceremonies in churches

The BBC story is a bit confusing.  It seems that the state decides where you are permitted to have a civil partnership (aka civil union) ceremony.  And they've decided you can have them in places of worship, if the denomination is cool with it.  So it's a bit fuzzy, but seem to be a step in the right direction.
