Because who hasn't gone on Twitter and publicly claimed that their employer, the person who signs their paycheck, is a bigot who practices employment discrimination?
What, nobody? That's what I thought.
We reported yesterday that archi-conservative supposed-lesbian Tammy Bruce, a longtime Fox News contributor (meaning, they pay her), tweeted that she was told she can't host the O'Reilly Factor because she's gay.
Big brouhaha ensued.
Now Bruce claims she was speaking ironically, and that liberals don't have a sense of humor.
Uh huh. Because lots of public figures publicly accuse their bosses of employment discrimination, as a joke.
I'm not sure I can think of anyone who's ever done that, or would do that.
We report, you decide.

Tammy Bruce told she'll never host Fox News because she's gay
![]() |
| Lesbian Fox contributor faces anti-gay discrimination. Go figure. |
Where to begin.
Tammy Bruce is an oft-contributor to Fox News' various propaganda shows. She claims to be a lesbian. She's also an arch-conservative, who is highly critical of gays, and who penned a book called "The Gay Gestapo."
Not surprisingly, she has routinely taken the anti-gay side of the various segments I've seen her on on Fox, including one in which she debated me on the O'Reilly Factor about my "DearMary.com" campaign, calling on Mary Cheney to stand up to her father and help stop the anti-gay constitutional amendment back in 2004 (naturally, Bruce defended Cheney against the evil gays).
And here's another Fox segment in which Tammy Bruce defends that anti-gay beauty queen bimbo a few years ago who was in trouble for opposing marriage equality - Tammy outright called use "the gay gestapo" in that segment.
Bruce is the go-to-girl when Fox needs someone to provide cover on an anti-gay issue. I mean, if a lesbian is saying it, how can it be anti-gay?
So, what to do with the news that Bruce is now on the receiving end of Fox's anti-gay bigotry that she herself has enabled all these years?
I won't rejoice over Bruce being on the receiving end of anti-gay discrimination. I will however say that she made her bed. She got all cozy with an anti-gay activist organization, helped it thrive, and even helped it promote its anti-gay agenda and message, and now she's surprised that the organization she helped build, in her own little way, is anti-gay.
Captain Renault: I'm shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here!Your winnings, Tammy.
[a croupier hands Renault a pile of money]
Croupier: Your winnings, sir.

FOX News rejects pro-Gay ad regarding DADT
Big surprise that Fox News adds another example of how unfair and unbalanced they are. Media Matters reports:
The Palm Center was trying to get a diverse audience to view the ad, hence their approaching Fox News. Fox News isn't having any of that kind of thing. Read the rest of this post...
Once again proving that Fox News has a love/hate (perhaps more hate/hate) relationship with the LGBT community, the right-wing network has rejected an advertisement from the Palm Center featuring openly gay troops discussing “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” (DADT), according to a press release obtained by Media Matters.
Palm Center's communications consultant Cathy Renna told Media Matters that Fox News' ad department wrote in an email explaining their rejection of the ad, "Don't Ask, Don't Tell is still on hold, so claiming the military is planning repeal is incorrect."
Renna countered, saying "the ad is a demonstration by Palm that the experience of allied militaries has been that having openly gay service members by their side does not undermine combat effectiveness. The important thing is that these are our allies talking about their experience."

Talking about McDonald's ad, O'Reilly asks 'Do they have an al-Qaeda ad?'
Tim posted the new gay-themed McDonald's ad on Tuesday.
Last night, Bill O'Reilly discussed that ad with one of his colleagues, Jane Skinner. It was a creepy discussion. The FOX people can be a tad obsessed with the gays, but O'Reilly's conclusion is the real kicker. He wondered if McDonald's had an al-Qaeda, too. Because, surely if there's a gay ad, there must be a terrorist ad.

Sean Hannity doesn't like being exposed as a homophobe
Sean Hannity led the attack on Kevin Jennings. And, it didn't take long before John figured out that homophobia was behind those attacks on Jennings. But, when Hannity got busted for his homophobia, he started whining about it. Alvin McEwen isn't letting Hannity play the victim card. Not at all.

FOX admitted its mistake in Jennings reporting. Will Sean Hannity?
Yes, believe it or not, FOX owned up to making mistakes in its reporting about Kevin Jennings. From Greg Sargent:
Is it even possible for Sean Hannity to acknowledge he was wrong? There does seem to be something of a Messiah complex at work there. Read the rest of this post...
Fox News has now issued an online correction. But Hannity has been silent on this since Friday. It’ll be interesting to see if he corrects the record on the air. I’m checking with his producer and will keep you posted.Media Matters compiled a video on Hannity's role in pushing lies about Jennings:

FOX News has been peddling a lie in the Jennings controversy, and only bothered fact-checking the story after they aired it
That crack team at FOX News decided to confirm a key part of the story about Kevin Jennings, only after FOX News aired the report without confirming it. And, FOX was wrong.
Check out the latest from Media Matters, which includes an email exchange between Maxim Lott, from FOX News, and the former student of Kevin Jennings from Concord Academy. According to Maxim, "most of the controversy has to do with advice [Kevin Jennings] gave you at Concord Academy." Well then, the controversy is over.
The former student told Lott that he was born in 1971, thus proving FOX's reporting inaccurate. Furthermore, he wants Lott and his employers to correct their mistake:

I was 16 when Kevin gave me the advice he gave me. I was born in July of 1971, and the conversation happened in 1988. It has been quite distressing to have heard otherwise on your broadcasts. Hopefully, my birthday should clear up any misunderstandings you and your employers have about my age and I look forward to seeing the correction made. Please forward me the link when you have done so.I have a feeling the guy will be waiting a long time for that link with the correction. Let's see how long, if ever, it takes FOX to correct itself. And, we'll wait for the other right-wing homophobes to correct their error, too. Don't hold your breath. FOX and the other right-wingers won't apologize or admit errors because, as John noted, their homophobia is driving this fake controversy. In their world, homophobia is an excuse for really bad and totally inaccurate reporting. Read the rest of this post...
