Poor taste award: Santorum compares criticism of his politics to kids being bullied into suicide

Seriously, Rick?  The necessary scrutiny a presidential candidate undergoes in the vetting process is the same kind of evil as a gay kid being bullied into committing suicide?  I mean, really?  And what he said is even worse than that.  He was actually complaining about a Saturday Night Live sketch lampooning him for his anti-gay politics.

There are a few problems with the analogy. First off, is Santorum contemplating suicide? If he is, then he shouldn't be in this race. Second, Santorum assumed some of the risk here by running for president. You're going to face scrutiny, and criticism, and a lot of both, if you choose to run for the highest office in the land. It's simply a different animal than being a freshman in high school. 14 year old kids deserve a lighter touch, and a bit more deference, than a 53 year old presidential candidate who has made his career out of staking out outrageously inflammatory positions on the most controversial issues of the day.

But what an evil and little man, trying to co-opt the deaths of so many children for his own political gain.
